The Backbone of the Teen Caucus
Chapters are the base of the Teen Caucus. These are the units work everyday to promote the Democratic Party in their schools and in their community.
Chartering with VAYD
As the official youth branch of the Democratic Party of Virginia, chartering with VAYD is the only way for Virginia teen Democrats to be in contact with the DPVA and gain representation in our annual convention. The process is quite simple: all that is needed is a club constitution, a list of (at least ten) club members, and an outreach plan guaranteeing that your club will not practice discrimination. Once chartered, VAYD provides resources for chapters to expand and get involved in politics. Chapters are connected to Democratic candidates and campaigns, are able to expand their awareness of public policy through our issue advocacy caucuses and can lobby for policies in our collective interest! Chapters still remain autonomous and VAYD does not impose any restriction on chapters, other than the expectation that charters shall not discriminate against members.
