As an affiliate of both the Virginia Young Democrats and the High School Democrats of America, we offer Virginia teen Democrats the best of both worlds

Virginia Young Democrats

The Virginia Young Democrats (VAYD) are the parent organization of the Teen Caucus in the Commonwealth.  While VAYD is our parent organization, the Teen Caucus remains autonomous.  VAYD gives teens the opportunity to build something that will last beyond their high school life.  Most of the current and former VAYD officers started their political lives in the Teen Caucus.  VAYD has a vast network of alumni who are serving as Party leaders or elected officials.

Every year during the General Assembly regular session, VAYD hosts a Lobby Day where Young Dems advocate our legislators on issues important to young people.

VAYD hosts a Convention annually to elect new leadership, adopt resolutions, award exemplary Young Dems, and conduct other business.

High School Democrats of America

The High School Democrats of America (HSDA) are the official high school arm of the Democratic National Committee.   HSDA is a forum for only high schoolers to develop their political passions.

HSDA holds a national summit annually to elect new leadership and conduct other business.

Virginia has a long heritage of leadership in HSDA:

Young Democrats of America

The Young Democrats of America (YDA) are the national affiliate for VAYD, and the official youth-arm of the Democratic National Committee.  YDA is a forum for high schoolers, college students and young adults to advocate for their collective interests.

YDA hosts a National Convention every two years to elect leadership, adopt a platform and resolutions and conduct other business.  YDA Caucuses meet throughout the year to coordinate activities and lobby for collective policy interests.
