Starting a local chapter in your high school or in your community is the best way to get involved in VAHSD. When you register a local chapter, we will make sure to provide you with all of the resources your chapter needs to succeed.
Step One
REGISTER YOUR CHAPTER
Register your local chapter through the VAYD website. You will need a filled out Constitution, Outreach Plan, and Membership/Officer Roster. Once you register, our Membership Director, Riley, will be in contact with you.
Join our slack page to get up-to-date information on new resources, events, and much more. You will be added to our "Local Chapter Leaders" so we can efficiently communicate with you and all local chapter leaders in Virginia.
Step Three
ATTEND A TRAINING
Attend one of our biweekly Chapter Training Sessions led by our Membership Director, Riley. You will learn about all of the resources VAHSD can provide you and how to effectively run your local chapter.
Click here to access our Local Chapter Guidebook for all of your next steps. The Guidebook will provide you with information needed to lead your local chapter including, how to start your first meeting, how to get involved with local campaigns, and much more.
Step Five
GRANTS AND DISTINCTIONS
Apply for our Local Chapter Grant Program and Local Chapter Distinction Program. Each program requires the local chapter leader to fill out an application. The maximum grant a chapter can receive is $100 per six months. One chapter receives a distinction award every month which includes being featured in our monthly newsletters.
